I’m relatively new at professional pedicures- I’m odd in that I don’t like to be touched- especially by people I don’t know. I fought for many years going to have a pedicure also because I’m very ticklish as well but a bit over a year ago when I was visiting my cousin in Texas, she insisted that I go with her and have one done. I had no idea that they rubbed all that stuff all over your calves and legs. It was kind of nice but still a little weird.
So. I’ve been a few times now and am actually liking it- for the most part. I do like how my feet feel afterwards except for the little bit of soreness from the pushing back of the cuticles. That just flat out hurts. How about you guys? Do you like a pedicure? Does the cuticle pushing hurt? How do you feel about the exfoliating and the leg massage?
The girl who did mine this time kept laughing at me when I’d do that little jump off my seat when she touched the bottom of my feet. I can’t help it. It’s reflexes. LOL!
I usually pick a shade of pink. What color do you like?
I’m heading out to the Romance Writers of America convention in Atlanta on Tuesday, the 16th. If anyone is going, let me know. I’d love to meet you for a chat.
There is nothing better than a good pedicure! I love it. I’ve not had problems with the cuticle thing. Sounds like your gal didn’t allow the cuticle remover cream to soften the cuticles enough and/or she was just too rough. Yes, I’m ticklish on the bottom of my feet but it does feel good to try and relax and let them scrub away.
I’m so jealous that you will be at RWA. I would love to go some day. I hope you have a wonderful time and do post lots and lots of pictures on Facebook!
I’ll try to post pics, Connie. Wish you were going. It’s within driving distance for me so I couldn’t pass it up this time.
And I think you’re right on the cuticles. Next time, I’m going to ask. This was my first time at this place close to my house.
Ah, pedicures. A subject dear to my heart 🙂 I LOVE them. Have to agree with Connie in that it sounds like your cuticles weren’t allowed to soften before the pushing back began. Never had a problem with that. The massaging almost sends me to sleep and it’s sheer heaven to have all those oils and creams sink in to soften the skin. Used to be a bit weird about having the ball of my foot touched, but seem to have gotten over that. As for colour? Red, siren red, but next time I’m thinking about a French pedicure.
Aah, maybe that’s it on the cuticles. The last one didn’t hurt as bad as this one but it did hurt. I will be more vocal next time and say ouch instead of making faces. Lol.
Red sounds divine. Maybe I’ll work my way up to that.
Pedis are so much fun! Very relaxing too.

They are for sure, KW
I’m like you Jillian in that it took me years to finally get up the nerve to have a pedicure. Now I like them but enjoy the way my feet feel after having them more than the actual treatment.
And, I usually go pretty bright, like bright red or pink. I think a French pedicure always looks great but haven’t had one. YET!
Ahh, seems the consensus is that pedis are great. My cousin always does the French one. It does looks nice.
I hate, hate, hate having anyone touch my feet and toes. So I’ve never had a pedicure. However, I recently swallowed my dislike and went to a podiatrist for a nail issue. After a lot of squirming, he really made them look a lot nicer. So I came home and put polish on them for the first time EVER last week. Hmmm, maybe I’ll have to try a pedicure one of these days. Baby steps, eh?
Baby steps, indeed, Laurie. It took me a loooong time and a lot of urging before I went. But they do look pretty.
And I totally get the squirm thing. Lol
Oh, how I love my pedicures! Yes, I like the nail polish, but for me, it’s about all the pampering. I’m forced to sit still for an hour. I do love me some sea salt scrub. Oh, and the mint mask, too! Yes, I have ticklish feet as well, but I must be getting more used to it because I don’t jump nearly as often. I will say I’m partial to the folks over at Nail Lounge on Bayou. The complimentary glass of wine has nothing to do with it. 😉
I knew you were a pedi girl, Micki! Your toes always look great. And yep, the wine. I can see that.
A complimentary glass of wine? Now THAT I could go for. Man, you folks know how to do things right! lol
That’s where Micki goes. I may have to try it out.
It’s been a long time since my last pedicure. However, I do take care of my feet, especially while wearing sandals. I like fire engine red polish, but I’m also partial at Aztec Gold. 😛
Oooh, Valerie. Gold! Awesome. Love that.
I cannot bear anyone touching my feet or toes, it’s not that I’m tickling, I just can’t stand it! Consequently never had a pedicure. Have you tried the fish pedicure? Now that really freaks me out!
Oh, lord, girl. I heard about those fish ones. No way, no how. Ugh. Lol
I’m sorry. Fish what? What on earth is a fish pedicure? Why would you want one? lol
Valerie, I’ve heard of these. They are tiny fish in the water that your feet soak in and they eat off the dead skin cells. Very gross.
