New Year, New Moon, New Calendar, New Journal- It’s all New!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hobbes’ goal: Catch that stuffed mouse.

So, I hear that this year’s first day also has a new moon and that rarely happens. It seems that the people who watch the sky think this is an auspicious beginning to 2014. A new blank page on the calendar, a brand new moon for the month as well as a new year all point to a clean slate to build dreams and goals. I also will be cracking the spine on a new journal. I use about 5-6 a year and I couldn’t tell you the last time I had one that I filled in the last page of on a December 31 so I’m calling that an auspicious beginning as well. All this blankness facing us and I’m ready to fill in some goodness into that space. Are you?

Imagine if the whole world looked at this day as a brand new beginning. We could do so much as a planet if we all gave due respect to the opportunities facing us with all the newness abounding all around. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we all dove in to good things and not the bad that seem to teem all over the globe?

What goals do you have for this year? I don’t do resolutions as I always crash and burn with them but I do set some goals. Pretty nebulous ones, for sure, because then I am less likely to fail. I have this character flaw that won’t allow me to back down from a challenge so I make sure I don’t set the bar too high (kind of self-defeating, I know).

My main goal is to try to focus more on being in the moment as opposed to fretting about the future. I tend to worry about things that never happen and I’d like to learn to stop that. I also set a goal of two new novels written this year as well as building the legal practice back up since it suffered a bit this past year with one big case that ate up my time. What about you? Any firm goals or are you a vague goal-setter like me?
