Art Project Complete…well, almost

I finished! Well, mostly. Still need to spray with protective coating and add string. Last month, I showed you the first six wood chips I’d painted, part of a 12 month set for a front door welcome sign.

I got the other 6 done! Now, granted, these are rudimentary. And there were times when my concept was too difficult for me and I had to rethink it. May and October were the most problematic. I wanted to do a flag for May. Turns out, that design was way beyond my abilities. I ended up with a simpler American motif. And October? I wanted falling leaves. Do you have any idea how HARD tiny maple leaves are to paint? Yikes! So had to swing more toward Halloween for that month.

Here’s the pictures of my little wood chip paintings, such as they are. It was a fun and diverting project at a time when diversions are so necessary.

So I hope you’re finding projects to fill your time in these unprecedented times. Stay home, if you can. Stay healthy, both mentally and physically. This too shall pass.

  1. I like the school bus and owl. I love the designs. Grandma Moses painted simple designs that earned her a huge fan base. Having so much time is the good side of the flip when you have something like this to show for it.

  2. I LOVE this idea, Laurie 🙂 A real fun project and you’ve done a great job. I’ve been trying to decide my favourite and think it’s probably October, but then I really like July, and of course there’s April… Heck,I like them all 🙂 🙂

  3. so cute! I love the turkey the best. So much personality!! AND of course, I love the pumpkin. Well done! Jillian

  4. I love what you’ve done, Laurie. They are brilliant and such fun. Just please don’t ask me to pick my favourite as it would change each month. Well done, you. 🙂
