(Written two days ago.)

I’m not the best at getting regular haircuts. I’m one of those people who waits until it’s completely unmanageable to call and make an appointment. Which means I live with hair I don’t like for quite a while. Thankfully, I have a great salon person who always gets me in quickly.

But lately, I haven’t been happy with my hair much at all, mostly in the back, where it curls. I’ve been trying to decide what to do about it. I like the top. Feels like a good length for me, as in the pic below.Laurie Ryan 29

But the back, which is curly, tends to drive me crazy. Especially the, well, I call them wings as back lengthens, those sections of hair at the base of your neck on each side that start sticking out as it lengthens. It’s just an unruly mess. By the way, I almost didn’t post this picture when I saw what looked like a bald spot. Yikes!

Anyhow, I’ve been thinking about going shorter…I want to show a picture of my example, but I can’t determine if it’s copyrighted or not, so I won’t post it to show how short I’m thinking of going. I’m heading to the hairdresser this morning. Gulp! I’ll finish this blog when I get back and let you know whether I took the plunge. I’ve done it before, but not since I was a teenager.

Making this decision is agonizing!

I’m back home. I did it. And I LOVE it. This will be so much easier to take care of. I’m not sure why I didn’t do it long ago. Here’s some after pics, though they aren’t great pics. 🙂

Happy Spring, everyone!

  1. Nothing makes a woman look more beautiful than when she feels beautiful! You look happy and wonderful!
Although I had been doing my hair shorter and shorter, it was still a lot of hair and it didn’t stay nice with any wind at all. (I have not changed my avatar from before.)I got it cut really short last summer, knowing that since I was having neck surgery, I would not feel up to fooling with it. I’ve had a bad cut since and had to have it severely cut to make it even, but although I consider it a bot too short, it has felt good and I have never had so many compliments in my life.
Well, here’s one for you! Feel lovely, because you do look lovely!

    • I completely agree, Tonette. Hair is important to an overall sense of beauty. I guess that why I agonized so long over making the decision. Because I have to look at myself in the mirror every day. Lol.
You got a bad haircut? Yikes. I know hair grows out, but that’s not easy to deal with. I love that fixing that turned out to be a good cut for you. I hope you kept it. 🙂

  2. Oh yes they are great pictures. I LOVE the new look. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy

  3. I absolutely LOVE your new look, Laurie. Very ‘now’. 🙂

  4. This was so brave!! I love this cut on you!! Hopefully it’s easier to manage😘

  5. Love the new hair cut. Looks great. Like you, I used to get mine cut at the point I couldn’t stand it any more but now I have it cut every 5-6 weeks. Never happy with it, but then again I never have liked my hair no matter how it’s cut. I tried a perm once. Dave and daughter couldn’t stop laughing for days so grew that out pretty prompt. 🙂
