Of Books, Birthdays, New Year, and Football

Jillian here. Happy New Year! Since last we visited, I had a book release (the weekend of Christmas which was not my choice of dates), a birthday, the passing of the old year and lots of ball games were played.

My husband is a huge– and by huge, I mean massive– Alabama football fan. He gets pretty rabid about them. They played in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on New Year’s Day and there was much yelling and carrying on in my house. He’s actually pretty comical. Like crazy-comical. Then Bama played in the national championship game on the 8th and he was even worse, if that’s even possible. I had to ask him if he was going to have a stroke but he said he needed to get bent out of shape over every play in order to help them win (!?!?!).

I’m also a football fan but my team of choice is Liverpool. Yep, a different kind of football.  They played on New Year’s Day as well but I am much more circumspect with my cheering than the spouse.  🙂

My birthday was the 28th and I lounged around doing whatever I wanted all day. I rarely indulge myself like that and I enjoyed it immensely. 🙂

I had a book come out on the 23rd of December. It’s called Cowboy Boots on the Ground. It has a secret room like in The House of the Seven Gables. I visited Salem in October before I wrote this story of NaNoWriMo a couple of years ago and wanted to use that room. It was pretty cool.  Link to book.

Here’s hoping we all have a superb 2018.  Cheers, Salud, Proost, l’chaim, Here’s tae ye, slainte!  Hobbes always has a blast playing in the Christmas paper. He looks like he had too much holiday cheer, doesn’t he? IMG_4274 (2)

  1. I’m so glad to hear you actually relaxed on your birthday! As for the Crimson Tide, I heard that championship game was just about the best game of the year (sorry, Georgia!) Congrats on the new release. And Hobbes? Dude says hi!

    • Yeah! Shock me on relaxing, too! It’s year end at the day job so for me to take off a day in the midst of that was something. LOL

I didn’t watch that game but I sure heard it from the other end of the house. 🙂

Hobbes said to tell Dude to hang in there- he’s sad Dude is unhappy with the cold weather.

  2. Great picture of Hobbes!
My better half’s BD is December 27th. Go Cappies!
    Happy late birthday!!

  3. Seems you’re of to a busy and fun start already to the year. Wishing you a Belated Happy Birthday and pleased you had a lazy relaxing day. Hobbes looks pretty relaxed too, or maybe he’s engrossed in watching the football game! Congratulations on the book release, hope it does well for you. 🙂

  4. Belated wishes for a good 2018 but you certainly had a busy end to 2017. Lots of fun too. Hobbes seems quite a character!

    • thanks for the good wishes. It seems I live to be busy. I sometimes wish I was hard-wired a little more laid back. 🙂 Hobbes is def. a character. He’s, as my mom says, “A mess in this world.” LOL

  5. Congrats on the new release. And a belated Happy Birthday. Hobbes is just relating to your laid back day off. He’s keeping his end up.
