I met a friend recently who, using Lavada’s brilliant new word, was suffering from the ‘gloomies’. She said there wasn’t anything she could pin it on as her life was going pretty well, but she just felt a little down and couldn’t seem to shake it off. After a long chat over a couple of coffees and a fairly large slice of cake, she said she felt decidedly better. No real surprise there, of course. A good chat with a friend can often lighten our mood, not to mention sharing an especially scrumptious, if highly calorific treat 🙂
When it came time to leave, my friend told me that she was going to clinch her new improved mood by singing her ‘happy song’ at the top of her voice while driving home. It was a song she’d learned in school, a silly little ditty that always made her feel happy. Do we all have one of those? A special song we spontaneously burst into when feeling good, or when we want to improve our mood?
I do, and here it is. Do you have one?
Let’s share our happy songs…
Love it! Made me smile, well done. You remain full of secrets!! X
Yeah, that’s me, a woman of many secrets, LOL!
Ahhhh, love your Happy Song. My fall back one is “It’s a Small, Small World. A Disney song.
Oooh, that’s a good one, too!
Love it!
Oooh, happy songs. I have two, and when I get them in my head, I can’t get them out. Here’s one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LBmUwi6mEo
Forgot to put the title in that last comment. It’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Tokens. My other one is “Fireflies” by Owl City: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psuRGfAaju4
It’s just a happy little melody. 🙂 I LOVE this topic. Hope I get some more new happy songs. Yours is great Tricia.
I love your choices, Laurie, and that’s the thing with happy songs, isn’t it? Once they’re in your head, they stick around for ages. Here’s another of mine, it makes me smile for so many reasons 😉
KC and the Sunshine band can just about always make me smile. 🙂
Love that son it would always put me in a peppy mood!!
It’s a fun one, isn’t it, Nancy?
Loved your post, made me think. I don’t have a specific “happy” mood song, it depends often on where and what I’m doing, but one that I am known to sing – well, screech anyway as I can’t sing not even for my supper – is Lovely Day by Bill Withers. Always makes me feel good! https://youtu.be/sYi7uEvEEmk
Weird. That link came up as unavailable in my country, but I searched the song out and listened to it. Bill Withers is pretty darn amazing and yep, that’s a fun song.
(I’m totally replying to all the links on Tricia’s blog because I LOVE this topic. ) 🙂
LOL, Laurie! 🙂
Oh yes, another great one! It’s in my head now, LOL!
great song choice!!! 🙂 and what a good friend you are to think of that slice of cake as a wonderful pick me up for her! I love to sing in the car- the song doesn’t matter. Here’s a fun song I like though. 😉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EPsuOEH1fY
Didn’t say it was Jillian up there but it was! LOL
OMG. How bad is it that I still know this chorus by heart? Off to listen to it one more time…
Ah, yes! The unicorn song! Love it 🙂 And cake is always at the top of my ‘support’ list, Jillian – happy, sad, commiserating, celebrating…you name it, we have cake! 🙂
