At this point on our recent road trip we have driven down I5 through the Los Angeles corridor and then over to Surprise Az which is just east of Phoenix. Now we are heading back
home via Las Vegas and Bend.
Still 100% in vacation mode, we stopped in Wickenburg a stop we were so glad we made. It was fairly early so some of the shops were just opening. I managed to find a few things like a beautiful western blanket that I needed.
The high point was a little place called Nana’s that we stopped at for brunch. And had the very very best potato salad I have ever eaten outside of home made. Linda and I both wished we’d had it for our main entrée. So good!!!!
On the road again we started out for Lake Havasu, new home of the London Bridge. This is a back road and while the scenery isn’t great it’s a driving experience away from interstates and like everything else we enjoyed the drive.
We had made reservations at London Bridge Resort. I had seen the resort when we rented a condo for a month in 2009 but we never got over to visit it. It didn’t disappoint. Our dinner that night was special, one of the best. The room was a suite. And, the replica of England’s legendary Gold Stage Coach that sets in the lobby was a touch (or maybe more than a touch) of elegance. Of course in jeans we managed to tone it all down.

London Bridge (Lake Havasu City) London Bridge is a bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. It is a relocated 1830 bridge that formerly spanned the River Thames in London, until it was dismantled in 1967.

I can remember being taken across London Bridge in its original setting when I was a child. All the way over we sang “London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down. I remember that song and loved the youtube you posted. When Jack and I were there we took a tour of the lake and went under the bridge where they pointed out the bullet holes from the war. A lot of history in that old lady.

Certainly sounds like you had a lot of fun. Had to do a double take on the first photo; I thought it was a real gentleman! Crossed London Bridge many time when I lived in London. Good to see it again. Can we have it back please, Londoners miss it! 😉
