I’m not sure if I told you all about the cat who came to work – We had this precious little kitty show up over a year ago and make herself at home here. We’re quite sure she has a real family because she’s always warm, dry and clean and has clearly been fixed as there have been no kittens. I think they work all day and aren’t home when we’re at the office. She comes in and usually hangs out in my office in one of the client chairs. We’ve had to physically move her when the paying folks want to come in.
When she first came around, the legal secretary and I named her Cali for Calico and the paralegal said, “Don’t name it. If you name it, you own it.” Now, she is one of the cat’s biggest fans- she even pulled a blanket and pillow out of her car and put it in a sheltered place when it was cold last weekend in case the cat got stuck outside.
Cali has brought us joy and even the clients know her name. I’ll never forget the day my one client asked, “Can I let Cali in, she’s outside the door?”
Did you know that almost all calico cats are female? They are. Isn’t that cool?
I have pics of her here. She’s in my basket where I toss cases to go to the storage shed, on one of my client chairs and under a tree. If you can’t tell, my office is in a mixed-use area. Light commercial (offices) and residential. Makes for fun neighbors!

What a lucky and smart girl to find you. She looks very well fed. I did know that about calico’s. They say if you do get a male he’s worth dollars as they are so rare. We have two that come into the yard but Rue hisses and puts up such a fuss behind the patio door that she’d scare away an elephant.
LOL on Rue scaring an elephant. She’s fierce!! Yep, Cali is quite well fed. She gets too much in my opinion but the others fattened her up

We’d all love to take her home, Nancy but she actually isn’t a stray. She lives down the road. She’s well over a year old as she’s been visiting us since spring/summer of 2012. Lol

Ahhh, you know how much we love chatting up the pets here. And Cali is adorable. I wonder if her “other” family knows where she spends her days. We’ve often wondered how our Dude remains so “well-fed” when we have him on a diet. Does he have a neighbor he’s spending time with? Unless we’re willing to collar-camera him, I doubt we’ll ever know. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your Cali. 🙂
Yeah, I often wonder if Cali’s real family knows she’s cheating on them. Lol. She’s a sweetie. I bet Dude is getting snacks elsewhere, too. Funny kitties- they make me happy.

I totally agree, Valerie. I had a friend rescue a cat last year but she couldn’t keep it and she wanted me to take it so badly but that cat was totally uninterested in me and my son.
We love our part-time Cali girl. She’s been a joy.
I’ve heard cats aren’t loyal and will go where they know they are welcomed and loved, and fed. We have one in the neighbourhood who thinks my garden is his as he certainly likes making his home in it during the day – even found him wandering through house one day as if he owned it. He looked at me most perturbed when I shooed him back outside. 🙂
LOL, Kit. I’ve seen that perturbed look on Cali few times when it’s closing time and she wants to stay inside. Cats can be fickle for sure. *smiles*
Cats are just so very independent, Kit. We always joked that our Princess allowed us to live with her, not the other way around. She had a habit of sitting with her back to us just right out of reach if she was miffed about something. If you reached out to pat her, she’d scoot a little bit farther away. That’s when we knew we were being ignored and we’d have to make over her to be forgiven! 😛 However, anytime I was ill, she never left my side. When a cat picks a person, she’s very loyal to that person(s).
Our older cat who passed away did that ignoring thing, too Valerie. But he made sure we knew he was miffed and ignoring us about it. Lol. Usually when we got back from a trip.
